Okay so now that we got our hair and our head mesh time to open 3DS Max. (for companions their head meshes are under data->da3->actors->baseheads-> Cullen for an example) I also suggest while you are here you also export the head mesh of the race you are using go to data->da3->actors->baseheads then select the race you want ie elffemale humanmale etc, export the head mesh (skinned mesh edit) using the same steps above. (if you are wanted to mod a companions hair just type in their name in the search box ie Cullen and export his skinned mesh edit) If it is select the import/export tab then select export and save somewhere handy I usually use a folder on my desktop. Hit preview and another box will pop up with the selected hair mesh make sure this is the hair you want. so type in whatever hair mesh you are looking for then select the Skinned Mesh Edit and double click a box will open that shows import/export, preview and debug tabs. It would be hf_g for human females, ef_g for elven females and df_for dwarf females, males would be hm_g for human males etc. For reference of the hair meshes I use the hair mod compendiums by daimodder which you can find hereВ & here Once you click on the hair a list of hairs will show up directly in the box below, you can easily search for hair by typing in the hair mesh you are looking for. Hair meshes are located under data->da3->actors->baseheads->hair

For every new patch you will have to rebuild your cache.

If it loads correctly you can now move your dlc folders back into your update folder. Once you reopen on the bottom of the screen it will show it is loading wait until it shows loading of cache & assets completed this may take a couple of minutes. Once you cache has successfully been created you will have to exit the modding tool then reopen to access your cache. Restart DAI Modding tools and it should be able to build your cache. If you get an error message that it has stopped working, move the dlc folders out of your updates folder but keep the official patch folder in there.

Okay first things first you are going to need:ДЎ) The Modding Tools which can be found hereВ make sure you get the right version for your system otherwise itвЂ™s not going to workДЈ) 3ds Max you can sign up for a free 30 day trial hereДЇirst you will need to extract the modding tool into a folder that you can easily find, the first time you will run it will build a cache this may take a while to complete 30+ minutes for me (removed your modded patch folder out of your updates folder before you start).

First off I am by no means an expert on this I just started modding less then a month ago but I will share what I know.
